The most important way to transport a variety of cargo between China and Europe are huge container unit, which can fit nearly twenty thousand TEU on board at a time. Sea freight has numerous advantages, it is really cheap and safe, and the appropriate equipment of the ports gives really great opportunities for handling goods. However, its main downside is travel time, as it usually takes several weeks to pass the route between the given ports. For this reason, shipping companies are looking for various methods to increase the speed of cargo transportation, inter alia using railroads. As practice shows, transporting containers by properly prepared trains has great advantages, which contribute to increasing its popularity. Time is of the essence in the first place, in many cases, recipients will not be able to wait that long for the ordered goods, so they chose much more expensive air shipments. Currently, the journey of the train from China to Europe will take no more than fifteen days, and at the same time it will be cheaper by a third than the plane.

The first direct connections between Poland and China were launched three years ago, units transported containers to Łódź, then they came back empty. This year, in June, another important step was taken in the trade exchange between Europe and China, namely in a symbolic form, the modern Silk Road was opened. This symbol was a freight train that traveled from the Chinese city of Chengdu to the capital, carrying in 22 containerized consumer electronics and automotive parts. The train started from the starting station 8 Last June and after traveling several thousand kilometers and less than two weeks of traveling, he appeared in Warsaw. Everything speaks for this, that this route may be frequently chosen by the public, due to the speed of transport and fairly low cost. Additionally, our companies try very hard, so that the warehouses do not come back empty as recently, but loaded with our food products, for example, juices, fruit or all kinds of sweets. As a result, overall transport costs can be significantly reduced, and this in turn will make trains even more competitive.
